Color of artnlife
The stuff of art colored by life.
Entry for July 3, 2008
I am nearly ready for my summer art classes at an elementary school in Wheaton. I will begin on MON 7/7. This is the ELO SAIL program w/the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, and Mont. Co. Public Schools. I have two great volunteers lined up, and this will be for a couple of the weeks. We are doing some construction projects, w/boxes, and also the marble maze paper mache constructions and painting. I dropped some of the materials off yesterday at the school and today have accumulated more stuff- so, will bring w/me MON.

Earlier this week, my friend Karen from LA visited and we did a little sight seeing---and I was interested in Mount Rainier- possible studio space...  I had not been there in years. Well, we mostly just sat at the Cafe Artmosphere. We also drove onto Hyattsville, and Brentwood- and just looked at the Brentwood Arts Center- on the outside.  I may be taking another look at Kensington for possible artist studio space.

I took Karen and Dave to the art exhibit at NIH, the Clinical Research Center. If anyone is interested in seeing the show- and I am in good company there- be forewarned about the tight security. You will have to surrender your ID, and have your car checked out. I had no problem the two times I entered (SAT and SUN). The exhibit will be up until 8/30. The paintings are paired- and it makes sense: two acrylic paintings on tar paper,  (one in Rock Creek Park, trees; and also a painting of blue bells from our front yard. Two mixed media acrylic collages- w/postcard, border; two mixed media oils on parchment paper; and two 8 x 10 mixed media paintings w/fragments from postcard images.)

Probably going to Takoma Park for the parade- and then DC later in the day. Happy 4th!M.
